I noticed a bunch of my Instagram feed was filled up with “suggested” content and was curious how much of the posts I see are from sources I actually follow (ie asked for). So I mapped out the first 100 posts of my feed and the result was:
– Followed posts: 37
– Suggested content: 45
– Sponsored posts (ads): 18
Only a little more than a third of the posts I was shown was content I asked for. I honestly expected more ads but am really surprised how much the system is trying to push new accounts and reels to me.
